New Year's Resolutions

Okay so, shame on me for not posting for the past 2 months. (oops!) But as the new year approaches and in light of recent events, I feel like it would be nice to see on paper (or a computer screen) what I personally am going to strive for in 2014!!

FALL MANI'S AWAY!

So after all my whimsical rants and musings. I always reward myself for the week's accomplishments. I know it's only Thursday but hey, I can plan ahead.  I've started out with a new manicure featuring one of the fall's most anticipated trends:

I opted for the classic "Buy Me a Camo" with an accent nail full of silver glitter. Because every girl needs a little glitter in her life, right? This season, more unexpected metallic hues are hitting the runways, namely Essie's "Nothing Else Metals," a lavender metallic pastel that's sure to make any outfit call attention.
As expected, the darker fall colors have also made an appearance at some of the top designers' fashion shows, recently.  Personally, I'm loving the Cabernet/Merlot hues along with the new rage called "Oxblood." Sounds devious right?  I tried a Merlot  colored gel polish two weeks ago and fell in love, so my usual fall brown and tans may have to take a back seat for a while.  All this talk about nail polish goodies makes me want to go out and buy more (who's really gonna stop me)!  Go and check out Essie.com for their latest fall trends in design and colors and leave me a comment about your fall go to mani!

A LITTLE CATCHING UP TO DO

I'm so sorry I haven't been on in forever, but I promise I have a lot of good things to fill you in on! First things first, HAPPY FALL! We all know that this is the season every Northeast preppy girl lives for! I'm so glad to finally have the riding boots, vests, monogrammed scarves, and bean boots out to play! Not to mention all the beautiful colors on the trees!

The beautiful view that I get to enjoy everyday
I can honestly say that I am truly blessed to be able to wake up and fall asleep to an amazing view that spans across 6 different towns.

Number two on my list is school. Ugh, I know, I'd rather avoid this topic as well, but it's actually good news! Beside the fact that I'm not exactly where I want to be right now, in terms of location, things couldn't be going better! After putting up with a Physics teacher (that I honestly think isn't even qualified enough to be a janitor), spending lots of time complaining to my parents, and making the library my home once again, I have managed to get a 100 on my Physics test. Round of applause; thank you, thank you. But it doesn't even stop there. I was on my high from Monday's great outcome that I worked coolly on studying for my Calculus test that I, guess what, got a 100 on! I know, it sounds too good to be true. At this point I'm just waiting for my car to break down or something. I KNEW the stars were out of line when during my french class this evening I received YET ANOTHER 100. Add all of these beauties to my hat trick of 100s in Medical Terminology and I have successfully aced every one of my classes' exams in the past 3 school days. I'm really not boasting, I'm just in awe still. Although, I WILL be asking my parents for some sort of reward. I mean let's be honest, I am the golden child at this point. Enough of school.

Next order of business is FALL THINGS! I'll post below a list of all my favorites, let me know yours! Speaking of lists, we all know what holiday is coming up that requires quite an extensive one! I have mine almost all made, but I have to check it twice. ;) That will be for another day.

As always,

IT'S TIME FOR RANT

My French teacher is the sweetest little fun-sized man. He tries to accommodate everyone but where do you draw the line between suggestions and bullying? There's always a few kids in your classes that feel they are owed something and try to dictate the class but do minimal work. My French class? Welp, it's loaded with democratic unwashed ankle biters that attacked my adorable professor for wanting to use an online workbook for homework and quizzes. Meanwhile half of us have already paid for the site code, these handout mongers yelled at my professor and bullied him to feel bad because they didnt feel like remembering to log on and do the online work. Isn't this the 21st century? Isn't our generation some of the most technologically advanced individuals? Well apparently we're succumbing to "capitalism" according to these pot stirrers in using the website. Meanwhile, a small group of myself and two others still held the respect to let the professor stick to an entire semester's worth of lesson plans, because let's face it...he's in charge! You're not paying his paycheck out of your pocket.  If anything, he's underpaid to listen to your tyrannical rants. Let the poor man speak an teach our class. Last I checked, he had the masters. Not you. BACK OFF JACK. *end rant*

MY INTERNSHIP IS FINALLY DONE

Okay, so technically I've been done for over a month BUT I've procrastinated my final paper and journal for the longest time.  And naturally, I handed it in within three days of the due date. How's that for down to the wire? BUT this means that I can now get my mother off my back for the next 10 days and have a carefree summer until classes start again. Ugh, it really never ends! I graduated! I'm supposed to be done with school, right?? Guess not. Anyways, to get me in the mood for back to school I decided to order some back-to-school necessities. Check them out below!

NEW BEAUTY GOODIES

Okay so everyone knows that Sunday is the day of rest.  Well for me it's the day that my parents come home from our house in the Thousand Islands every weekend.  That usually means one of two things: Either I have to clean up from the party that I had the night before (hungover, albeit) or I have to get in as much "me" time as possible.  Because I'm anxiously awaiting Pirates Weekend next week (further referred to as #PW13), a party was not part of my weekend agenda. SO this means I went on my weekly sushi date for one at Osaka and perused the cosmetics at Rite-Aid.  I also made sure I snagged all the good Sunday paper coupons before my mom could when she got home.  Coupons in hand and beaming bank account, I was able to score a few random items that I thought would be less than life changers. WRONG. I think this is my most successful beauty haul TO DATE. To start things off, I had a coupon for Covergirl's new Clean Whipped Creme foundation.  Now, I was an avid user of the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse long ago until I realized it was way too cakey after it oxidized and made me look like a mess, let alone I broke out if I accidentally went to bed in it after a night out.  So to my pleasant surprise, this new whipped creme foundation was a dream! I'll list its pros below after my rant. The other hidden treasure I found was Physician's Formula Sexy Bronzer.  Not only is the packaging too cute to handle but it came with a matching BONUS BLUSH. No, not a pathetic trial size or something totally out of my skin range, but an equal sized blush that matched the light to medium tone it was intended for! I thought it was too good to be true at $14! A little background on these "sexy" bronzers and blushes; Physician's Formula has some geniuses working for them because what they did was pack these products with pheromones so that the opposite sex is more attracted to you and you feel more sexy.  Now I know this sounds insane, but it's true. In my head pounding study sessions for Anatomy, we learned that pheromones are released when animals are ready to mate in order to attract a partner. Off track, but anyways...when I opened up the packages, they smelled like vanilla and some other beautiful scent that I could smell on my face which also made me glow.  I literally was so giddy that I jumped up and clapped at myself in the mirror (don't hold it against me). Now, another product that I've been searching to find is a somewhat inexpensive concealer that's much lighter than my skin tone to use as a highlighter and an equally inexpensive fair powder to go over it (I use these when contouring and highlighting my face).  I've struck out so many times in this category that I was about to give up, UNTIL I saw that Rimmel had a concealer and highlighter duo stick that came in extremely fair at only $4! That's not even the best part...I HAD A COUPON FOR $1 OFF. Okay, I swear I'm not a crazy coupon lady, but they never seem to work out for me so when TWO did in the same day I can't help but be excited.  I also gave the Wet 'n' Wild section a quick glance and found a cheap fair powder called Coverall to go over the concealer which was only $2.99. I was just feeling the love today.  After my shower I tried all my new swag, finished it off with my Make Up Forever HD Finishing Powder, and guess what - I loved my face. Even after 7 hours, it looks healthy, flawless, natural, and most importantly not cakey or orange from oxidizing.  The Whipped Creme foundation is my perfect color, the bronzer gave me a beautiful contour, the blush gave me a gorgeous glow, and the Rimmel duo stick gave me perfect highlights under my eyes, on my chin, and in the middle of my forehead.  I can honestly say that I'm in lust. SO GO OUT AND BUY THEM, I swear by it!  Have a great week everyone!
